What will Gregg offer to his new converts? His website is quite weak. I hope he does not become bitter like Ray Franz jr. Ray Franz was kicked out of our Church when our Pastor figured out he had nothing upbuilding or a testimony of love to share with the flock. Greg, Ray was filled with Miasma and our Pastored removed him after realizing no sharing or love was interchanged but Ray's anger and hatred against the WTS. Do You teachers use such bitter men to drain the flock of Christ or do you protect us?

Comment on The Trinitarian God is not a “Person,” he is a “Being”? by voot smoots

Fr. Brian Davies, one of the foremost contemporary philosophers of religion in Anglophone philosophy, observes of the formula that ‘God is a person’ “is by no means a traditional one. It does not occur in the Bible. It is foreign to the Fathers and to writers up to and beyond the Middle Ages. Not does it occur in the creeds.” (Davies, Philosophy of Religion: A Guide, 2000, p.560)

The Christian Trinity speaks of three persons of one substance (ousia or substantia). It does not say the Godhead itself is a person, or that God is three persons in one person. ;-)

Thinking the Godhead is itself a person or very person-like is relatively recent. Perhaps an outcropping of the modern Protestant emotional emphasis and more lately the return of immanatist or process-oriented theologies. The view is pretty much absent from Western theology before the eighteen-century. William Paley (1741-1805) and Friedrich Schleiermacher (1768-1834) provide early examples of trying out the idea. The nineteenth-century saw an increasing emphasis on God as personal if not actually a person. The latter idea may seem obvious and natural to us, but not to historical monotheism.

Jumping back again, Aquinas and Boethius allow that God in His essence might be called a person, or thought of as personal, but only in a highly qualified and deeply analogical sense. Since God has something analagous to an intellect and will. Though incomprehensibly unlike our own.

The point is not to deny God can be called a person. But classical theism has always been aware of the danger of thinking of _human_ persons as the model for what it might be like to call God a person, so too with perons as the model for using traditional anthropomorphic predicates...(which contra Frame do not imply literal personhood of the Godhead). I can speak of the 'hand of God' but no one thinks God has physical limbs, or actual emotions, et al.

The term 'person' or persona was taken from Greek drama and virtually invented to talk about the Trinity, Boethius take it to mean rational hypostasis. So the Western concept of a person derives from the Trinitarian controversies. Whereas we moderns make the mistake of trying to go in the reverse direction to get out minds around Trinity.

I think many households in predominantly Christian Nations do not openly welcome Jehovah’s Witnesses because their door to door ministry seems designed to mislead the housholder into beleiving the same lies that Satan told in the Garden of Eden.

If you read the following newsletter you should see the parallels to the Edenic Sin:

http://www.scribd.com/doc/11566728/Jehovahs-Witnesses-and-Satans-lie

They really are like Satan dressed in a nice suit and tie knocking on your door!

No wonder so many Nations have banned them!

Antimasons who claim to be Christians twist Scripture, add works to grace and attempt to usurp the authority of God by claiming to judge salvation status. Of course, there are always the books and tapes and CDs for sale on the back table....

Hmmmmm, Having read this about Stafford, I am wondering if all of those JWs that frequent Paltalk online will still be citing Stafford in order to support their erroneous teachings. I must say that I did see this coming. I had told them that it was just a matter of time before Stafford broke off from that fold and created his own following. I suspect that Corban, another self-described JW Greek scholar(hehehe), will be first in line to join Stafford's new publishing cult. Hopefully Stafford will get on the right track eventually.
