Smelling Journals

I know this is weird, but I love the smell of Journals. I mean theological journals. Not all of them mind you, have a good smell. I can think of the Creation Technical Journal (now the Journal of Creation put out by Creation Ministries International; this has a wonderful smell.

When I was in Bible college, you could frequently catch me in the journals section of the library, and at times, catch me with my nose in a particular journal (probable wasn’t healthy for the next person, but I’m not so sure many were reading them anyway).

Yesturday, I received a copy of the new biography on Van Til, and boy did it smell as though it was just printed. Wonderful! I even had my children smelling it, and they seemed to enjoy it as well. [Side note (at least from the topic of this post): I began reading this book and am enjoying it and Lord willing will blog on it as I work my way through].

I wonder how many out there are journal or book smellers. If not many or none, perhaps I just need to delete this blog entry and move on as if nothing has happen. Kind of like I did while at college and and someone caught me smelling the Technical Journal.

Crumpets

Look what I found! For some reason I could not get these in PA unless I went into Lancaster City to the local British Store. Here in South Carolina I find them in the local Publix Grocery Store. They go very well with a newly roasted and brewed cup of coffee (I roast my own beans).

Phoggin’

Yesterday I was in my car driving to take an exam (on the book of Hebrews). I decided to call a friend of mine on the phone, since I was sitting in traffic. Of course I had to leave a message, since my friend works during the day. The message I left was pretty general, but it was about what’s happening in our lives (moving, tapes I have of his, etc.). Before I hung up, I said “hey, this is sort of like a blog entry, but it’s over the phone.

After my exam, I called my friend back and left another message, explaining how the exam went, etc. (kind of like another blog entry). Well, for some reason my youngest son decided to keep us up last night, so I’m working on about 1/ 1/2 hr. sleep. I left for work and after I arrived, I realize something…yesterday, I phogged! Kind of like blogging, but it was done over the phone.

Then I realized that this is simply calling and leaving a message on someone’s voice mail.

But, perhaps instead of saying “I had to leave a message on [so and so's] answering machine,” you can say “I phogged him.” You heard it here first!

Obviously I need some sleep! :) And obviously I may deleted this blog entry when I wake up!
